AI Design Sprint
Methodology6 steps
Validating an idea without an app back end: a landing page, ads and emails in 1 hour. If nobody clicks, build nothing.
Methodology
What it is
An AI Design Sprint is not about building a product, that is left to MVP in 8 hours. The goal is to validate demand before a single line of working code is written.
6 steps
Steps
Step 1 · 1
Defining the idea
Briefly describe your product or service. What does it solve? For whom?
Step 2 · 2
Creating a landing page
Use AI tools (v0, Framer) to create a professional landing page with the main benefits for the customer.
Step 3 · 3
Creating ads
Generate several variants of ad copy and images using ChatGPT/Midjourney.
Step 4 · 4
Email campaign
Create a series of emails for potential customers using AI text generators.
Step 5 · 5
Deployment and measuring
Publish the landing page and launch the ads. Measure clicks and interest.
Step 6 · 6
Decision
If nobody clicks, build nothing. If there is interest, continue with MVP in 8 hours.
Traditional approach
Build the MVP → launch → marketing → discover there is no interest. Loss: months.
Vibe approach
Generate the marketing (landing page and ads) → Measure clicks → Decide on development. Loss: 1 hour.
The "Fail Fast" principle
"Create a landing page, ads and emails in 1 hour. If nobody clicks, build nothing." That is the essence of the method. The goal is not to build a product but to validate demand before you put time and energy into development. If the market shows no interest, you drop the idea with minimal loss.
Tools: Shared visual work
Miro, Creately: For shared visual work and organising thoughts.
Tools: AI for creating content
ChatGPT, Claude: For email and ad copy.
Tools: AI for creating visuals
Midjourney, DALL-E: For ad images and visual content.
Tools: Building without programming (no-code/low-code)
Framer, Webflow, v0: For publishing a landing page immediately.
AI Design Sprint vs. AI-Powered Design Sprint
Goal: AI Design Sprint: Create a solution where AI is the main product; AI-Powered Design Sprint: Use AI as a tool to improve the design process. Role of AI: AI Design Sprint: "The main star" (the main feature); AI-Powered Design Sprint: "A Swiss army knife" (a helper). Output: AI Design Sprint: an AI prototype, market validation; AI-Powered Design Sprint: a faster standard prototype. Card 03, with its focus on "validation without an app back end" and creating marketing materials, belongs more in the category of AI-Powered Design Sprint in the broader sense (AI speeds up validation), but the goal is to validate the business idea itself.
Practical tips for success: Stick to the time limit
The whole sprint should take 1 hour at most. If you are running behind, move to the next step. Perfectionism will slow you down.
Practical tips for success: Focus on value
The landing page must say clearly what the product will bring the customer. Let the AI write copy that addresses the customer's specific problem.
Practical tips for success: Measure the right metrics
The number of visits does not matter, clicks and interest do. If nobody clicks the call-to-action button or fills in the form, the market has shown no interest.
When to use an AI Design Sprint
You have a product idea but you are not sure there is interest in it. You want to quickly test different promises to customers (value propositions) without investing in development. You need to validate the market before you start building an MVP in 8 hours. You want to lower the risk of spending money on a failed idea.
Outcome
Outcome
A data-backed decision on whether to build the idea: a deployed landing page, ads and emails tested on the real market in one hour, with minimal loss on failure.
